This quilt is fashioned after the simple colorblind test given in doctors’ offices across the country.
It certainly is not meant to offend anyone who is physically colorblind but merely making use of
a design element to enforce a powerful message. It depicts the word Racism in much the same way a colorblind test would depict a number in the
center. This format was chosen for this quilt to show that racism is still very much alive in our
society. Whether we choose to see it or not, doesn’t reduce the impact it has on the lives of
those who experience it. Racism is still apparent the world over. It raises its ugly head in many fashions sometimes boldly,
other times in the most subtle of ways. Some of us would prefer to think that its implications and
prejudices aren’t apart of us as individuals, but racism affects all of us.
